Overtext Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Overtext, a browser extension that OCRs and translates text shown in videos. Overtext is published by Miso Software LLC ("we", "us"). By installing or using Overtext, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the extension.

The service

Overtext lets you trigger OCR on video frames and request translation of the recognized text. OCR runs on our backend using Apple Vision. Translation is performed by Google's Gemini API through our backend. Some features (translation, credit balance, account settings) require signing in with a Google account. Anonymous OCR is subject to a daily rate limit; translation is subject to a credit balance.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Overtext. If you sign in, you are responsible for the security of the Google account you sign in with. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Overtext to view or process content you do not have the legal right to access
• circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, the rate limits or credit system
• use automated means to submit requests at scale, beyond reasonable personal use
• reverse-engineer, resell, or rebrand the service
• use Overtext for any unlawful purpose, or to process content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction

Credits and payments

Translation credits are purchased through Stripe. Credits are consumed when you request a translation. Credits:

• have no cash value
• are non-refundable once purchased, except where required by law
• do not expire while your account remains active
• cannot be transferred between accounts
• are forfeited if your account is closed, whether by you or by us

If you believe there is a billing error, contact us within 60 days at info@misosoftware.com.

Content

You retain all rights to any content you OCR or translate through Overtext. We do not claim ownership of video frames, recognized text, or translations. You grant us a temporary, non-exclusive license to process that content for the sole purpose of returning the OCR or translation response to you. We do not retain video frames, OCR results, or translations after the response is returned. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Availability

Overtext is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, latency, or continuous availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, at any time.

Disclaimers

Overtext is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that OCR or translation results are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. Do not rely on Overtext for decisions where accuracy is critical.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Miso Software LLC's total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Termination

You may stop using Overtext at any time by uninstalling the extension, and you may delete your account by emailing matt@misosoftware.com. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including payment obligations, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by updating the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notifying signed-in users by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
